After the end of the Diamond League Finals, other criteria have opened up for the women athletes to face each other.

The list of nominees for the Women’s World Athlete of the Year has been announced. The sprint world champions Sha’carri Richardson and Shericka Jackson both are among the top 11 females nominated. On the 11th of October 2023, the World Athletics announced the list of their track and field icons.

The top-notch sprinters, Tigist Assefa of Ethiopia, Femke Bol representing the Netherlands, Shericka Jackson of Jamaica, Faith Kipyegon, Haruka Kitaguchi, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Maria Perez, Gudaf Tsegay, Sha’carri Richardson, Yulimar Rojas, and Winfred Yavi are on the list to secure the title for themselves.

Amidst this, the attention will be mostly upon the dynamic duo of the USA and Jamaica. They already had a competitive encounter in the 2023 events. Now is the time once again to get hyped to witness who’s going to bag the win.

The USA and Jamaica showdown in the Diamond League 2023

On the 16th of September 2023, at the finals of the Diamond League, a terrific showdown between Shericka Jackson and Sha’carri Richardson was witnessed in the 100m race. Jackson delivered a beautiful run and nabbed the win in 10.70 seconds leaving Richardson at the fourth position in her homeland. She clinched gold and Richardson was not seen at the podium with a time of 10.80 seconds.

After this win, the USA athlete left everyone in awe by showing a sweet gesture to Jackson after her win. She went and hugged her for the win which portrayed true sportsmanship. Gestures like this make these two sprinters the ideals they are today. However, after this face-off, another one is just in line and this one is the last chance for Richardson to bag her win this year against Jackson.
