The tie-breaker performance at the Prefontaine Classic?

The Diamond League 2023 witnessed an amazing performance that somewhat resembled with the World Championships for Katie Moon. It’s like ties are just Moon’s thing now.

Just after finishing with a tie and sharing the gold medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships against Nina Kennedy, Katie Moon was once again in the same situation. She finished at the Diamond League Finals in a tie with Tina Sutej, a Slovenia representative.

However, this time the competition was not left upon the two competitors to land on a mutual agreement like in Budapest. Here, a jump-off was done where Moon gracefully ousted Sutej for the Diamond trophy.

Both of them had cleared the 4.81m on their first attempts. On the other hand, America’s Sandi Morris and Finland’s Wilma Murto missed their chance for the same in their first attempt and were shifted to the next height at 4.86m. Even there, they missed their final two attempts.

Moon and Sutej both were trying their best but were not able to get it done on their three chances. Because of this, the competition was shifted to a jump off at the same height, and Moon cleared it on her first attempt, giving America a magnificent reason to enjoy.
