When you meet a celebrity you’ve watched on television your whole life, it’s easy to get a little star-struck. And it seems even legends like Usain Bolt aren’t immune to this phenomenon. In fact, he gets nervous when he has to face a personality he admires.

We know US President Barack Obama left him a little dumbstruck. But even a funnier incident is when he was introduced to one of the world’s best-selling recording artists, the beautiful and talented Beyoncé.

Usain Bolt embarrassed himself in front of Beyoncé

As the Fastest Man Alive, Usain Bolt is an inspiration to thousands of aspiring athletes. On the track, nothing could stop him, the poster-child of self-confidence. But put him in front of the one and only Beyoncé, and all that bravado vanishes.

“I was excited to meet Beyoncé. I’ve always had that conversation in my head. You know exactly what you’re going to say to somebody, and then you meet them and you’re like, ‘Oh my God.’ She’s the only person I’ve been dumbstruck by,” Bolt told the Guardian.

“In my head, I was always going to say, ‘Hi, my name’s Usain. You don’t know, but I’ve had a crush on you for years. You’re very beautiful.’” But the day Jay-Z introduced the Olympic champion to the woman of his dreams, things didn’t go quite as planned.

“I said ‘Hi.’ Just ‘Hi.’ That was it. It was an awkward moment.” He cringed. “And I stared for a minute, and she looked at me like, ‘Oh my God.’ And walked away.” And while we’re sure Beyoncé wouldn’t take a ‘hi,’ to heart, it certainly shows that the sprinting legend’s just like the rest of us.

Making it big in the world of sports, Usain Bolt became a household name for track fans and non-fans alike. His historic triple-triple win at the Olympics, winning gold in the same three disciplines in three consecutive Olympics, is one for the books.

And this fame brought him the opportunity to meet all his favorite celebrities. Bolt has not only mingled with Jay-Z and Beyoncé but also with soccer stars, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Wayne Rooney. He’s even met Prince Harry on more than one occasion.
