The dividends of years of hard work melts Jamaican athlete
Sean Bailey has emerged as one of the top guns of Jamaica in the 400m and 4x400m relay categories. The 26-year-old enjoyed the best season of his career in 2023 and even qualified for the finals of the WAC. The hard work and resilience of Bailey earned him a sponsorship with Adidas which instantly sent him on cloud nine. The Jamaican national champion took to his Instagram account to share a humble note, thanking his coach and management.
Bailey broke the news by posting an image where he crouched beside the iconic three-stripe logo of Adidas. The post carried the caption,??These past two years out of college I wanted to run track and field professionally. Two years later I am an Adidas athlete. The journey has not been an easy one by any means. I wanted to give up so many times because I felt as if I wasn?t good enough.??While the 26-year-old thanked his well-wishers, he also left an inspiring note for fellow athletes in the rough.

In fact, Noah and his younger brother Josephus ditched university to turn pro sprinters.

According to a Washington Post article, Josephus spoke in an interview about going pro instead of going to college. Josephus said,??We?d been debating it, and we agreed early on, it?s either both of us go pro or we both go to college. We?re not going to split.??The then 19-year-old Noah Lyles missed the Olympics by 0.09 seconds but decided to relinquish a college career and pro sprinters anyway.?

The decision along with their merit to be recognized by Adidas propelled them into professional sports. The brothers made up their minds mere weeks before their classes were about to begin at the University of Florida. This was a very rare occurrence. In fact, the last person to skip college and turn pro was the legendary Allyson Felix. Just three years later, Noah Lyles began his winning juggernaut and claimed his first world championship gold in Doha. He now stands with six world championship gold medals in his pocket.
