On November 15th, the US sprinting icon, Noah Lyles bagged the Jesse Owens US Athlete of the Year Award for a staunch 2023 season. The 6x World Champion had an amazing season that marked his legendary gold medal three-peat at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. Moreover, Noah Lyles also broke Usain Bolt’s record of most sub-20 finishes in the 200m category this year.

This is the third time the USATF has awarded the Jesse Owens honor to the 26-year-old. According to a recently uploaded social media post, Lyles is only the second US athlete to claim the award three times. In fact, this historic achievement has now put him in the same league as American sprinting legend Michael Johnson.
