The track and field events at the World Championships always end up becoming a US vs. Jamaica contest. The 2023 iteration of WAC in Hungary was no different. The balance kept tipping from one side to the other. While Sha’Carri Richardson won the 100m dash, Shericka Jackson responded with an almost FloJo-breaking 200m victory. The nail and thorn rivalry continued at the 4x100m relay race where both teams showed up for their final showdown. Sha’Carri Richardson was assigned to run the last leg of the race for Team US.

Richardson didn’t just play the role of the final baton-bearer, but absolutely killed the competition and won the gold medal. She faced the dangerous combination of Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, but this time, she wasn’t alone. This was the ninth time when Richardson beat Jamaica. Sha’Carri Richardson appeared for an interview after the dash with her teammates and spoke her mind to the camera.
