The M45 European Masters Championship is for male athletes aged between 45-49 years of age. This is a biennial competition organized for the veteran athletes. Sprinters from Europe and other countries take part in this competition. During the event this year, one 45-year-old athlete put up a stellar performance.

45-year-old National Champion clinches Gold

Lion Martinez from Sweden, clinched gold in the M45 European Masters Championship this year. The Swede managed his racing journey with a super-fast speed of just 10.73 heartbeats. This man thus showed his actual strength and prowess on the track. On the second spot, we have Leonardo Francesco with 11.86 seconds. The Track Spice on their official X handle mentioned this: “45 year old Lion Martinez runs a super fast 10.73 in the 100m. He won the M45 European Masters Championships.”

If we talk about his standings in the current world ranking, in the 100 m he stands at 1518 rank with 987 score points. Adding to this, in the 200 m race, he is at 1497th place with overall 931 points. He fetched 987 score points in the overall men’s ranking. Masters M45 100 m World record progression has also been commendable.

An extended chance to glory

European Masters Athletic Championship got its initial start in 1978. Since its inception, it has conducted 22 editions. Recently in the year 2023, the event was organized in Pescara, Central Italy from September 21 to October 1st. The 2022 event was held in Braga.
