After the release of her book, ‘The Longest Race’, the controversy floodgates opened and shocking details came to light. 

Goucher slammed Alberto Salazaar regarding various malpractices. However, as if these were not enough, a recent exclusive interview has revealed more betrayal for Kara Goucher. And guess what? It came from her therapist! 

Kara Goucher accuses therapist of betrayal

The 2x Olympian recently sat down with Rich Poll for an interview. Navigating the various aspects of Goucher’s life, Poll brought up the topic of how the long-distance runner got exposed by her therapist while she was a part of The Nike Oregon Project. Recalling the horrific experience, Goucher stated that she was going through a lot of stress while deciding to go for therapy. Elaborating on the matter, the 45-year-old said that her husband was unhappy with the team and she felt the heat of competing at the World level.

Speaking about her initial interaction with Darren Treasure, Goucher stated, “The first session I had with him I couldn’t stop crying.” However, soon after attending a few sessions, Goucher would get the red flags that she could not help but notice. According to Goucher, Treasure spoke about confidential information of several other athletes while counseling the 45-year-old. 

Much to her horror, her worst fears came true when she noticed Alberto Salazaar calling her out in practice, allegedly accusing her of information that only Darren Treasure knew. Such infidelity came as a shock to Goucher who felt utterly vulnerable as her personal information got leaked. However, as gloomy as her experience might sound, the Olympian is now leading a happy life.

Kara Goucher puts behind her dark days 

After bidding adieu to the tracks, Goucher is now leading a happy life. Married to fellow US runner Adam Goucher, Kara became a proud mother when Colton Mirko Goucher, her son, was born on September 25, 2010. Her son, who is now 12 years of age, has also decided to follow in his parents’ footsteps and has taken to the tracks. Colt’s hunger for success often stresses Kara out.

Recalling one such incident, Kara Goucher stated, “He had set this goal to win the sixth grade district mile and this goal stressed me out to no end… But to say you want to win something, you don’t have control over what anyone else does. And so the day of the district meeting, I was shaky.” However, in the end, everything fell into place as Colt did win the race, leaving Kara Goucher with a broad smile.
