The Jamaican sprinting sensation, Shericka Jackson, is a force to be reckoned with. Her prowess is proved by the stellar performances she has delivered to date. The 2023 season was an incredible one for her and she kept on proving her worth with her shining accolades. She has been blessed with the highest honors this year in both track and off-track. However, there remains a story behind the curtains that makes a portion of the star’s journey.

Shericka Jackson unveils her “real side”
The Track Spice recently shared a video on their X account of Shericka Jackson, where she is seen speaking about her experiences and how they have affected her. The caption to this carried, “Shericka Jackson opens up about her childhood and her personality. Great to see the real side of athletes that people can relate to.” They further added, “More strength, love, and power to her”.

Jackson expressed how her childhood wasn’t normal like others. She didn’t witness much love while growing up which is why she doesn’t know to express her love. In her words, “I was struggling mentally. I was depressed. I never grew up in a lot of love”. She also added that she could only express herself through aggressiveness, yet she was very protective of the people she loves. Despite all these, she did not fail to achieve big things on and off the track. Her recent accolade from her alma mater is a testament to that.

Jamaican track star secures academic achievement
The Jamaican sprinting sensation concluded her 2023 season with a token of respect from the University of Technology in Jamaica. She was conferred with an honorary doctorate from the university. The 200m World Champion was praised in front of all her admirers who roared in cheers after she received her prize at the podium.
