The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, which was formerly known as the Boston Indoor Games, usually takes place in late January or early February and is one of the most decorated events in the track and field world. From awaited events to high-caliber athletes, this game is a show of talent. The 2024 iteration of this event is knocking at our doors, bringing a terrific showdown between two American sprinters.

One of the most anticipated rivalries is probably between Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman in the 60-meter. However, that does not end Lyles’ list of challenges. One more of his targets at the Indoor Grand Prix lies in another 100m champion.

Noah Lyles to face tough challenge from 2022 100m World Champion 

The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be held on the 4th of February 2024 and will take place in Boston. This edition of the event will be one of the most exciting ones as there will be a clash between two of the fastest men in the world. The current 100m world champion Noah Lyles will confront the 2022 100m world champion, Fred Kerley, in the 60m race

Noah Lyles is the ruling champion of the 60m at this Grand Prix and clocked a personal best of 6.51 seconds in the 2023 iteration of the race. He is surely eyeing to defend his title. Kerley on the other side will make his debut in both 60m and the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. It has been three years since Kerley showcased his talents at the Indoor games. This debut and his clash with Noah Lyles have kept all the track and field enthusiasts on their toes. However, Kerley isn’t the only champion whom Noah Lyles will face in 60m. 

The 60m rivalry between two 100m phenoms

Apart from Fred Kerley, Noah Lyles has also challenged another 60m runner for a faceoff at the Indoor Championships 2024 and he is none other than the Indoor World Record holder in 60m (6.34 seconds), Christian Coleman who defeated Lyles in 100m to win the 2023 Diamond League. Lyles recently opened up about his 2024 goals in an interview with Ato Boldon. Along with all his plans, one thing that grabbed a lot of attention is his plans for the Indoor Championships 2024.

He took the track and field world by surprise by making a statement that seemed to be targeted at Coleman. He is focusing on the 60m this time and plans on standing atop the podium for the same. Noah Lyles expressed, “The goal is to win world championships indoors”. The Olympic year has already started giving tough competition to Noah Lyles.
