Weighing Career Options in Early 20s, LSU Star Mondo Duplantis Shockingly Picks Another Sport Over Track and Field

Armand Mondo Duplantis, the track and field star has had one of the most grandest seasons in 2023. This 23-year-old is not just a cerebral pole vaulter but knows how to maintain the title. At his tender age, he has won every award offered to a professional track athlete. He has had a great season this year and at its end, the athlete also got nominated for the Athlete of the Year Award and features under the list of clear favorites.

The young pole-vaulter was recently seen in a podcast called, “Real Talk With Tee”. He shared multiple stories of his illustrious career and answered several exciting questions. One of his answers shocked the internet as he chose another sport over track and field. With this, he also shared multiple insights that left his admirers in surprise. Was it his disillusionment with his current sport that’s prompting his decision? Or does he just want to dabble in something fun and new?

Mondo Duplantis is one of the most celebrated pole vaulters in today’s time and his achievement speaks for itself. Apart from being an Olympic Champion, he is also a 2x World Champion, Indoor & Outdoor World Records, 2x World Athlete of the Year. Now he was seen on the podcast being a part of an interesting conversation. In the podcast Real Talk with Tee on YouTube that was named as “Real Talk with Mondo Duplantis”. This indeed was real talk when the young pole vaulter spoke about his newfound inclination in another sport.

At the very beginning of the podcast, a question was posed before Duplantis about what his future goals are that wasn’t track related. He said that he would play golf, he would like to test his skills when it comes to this regal sport as he hasn’t played it as much. Duplantis expressed, “I’m not paused right now, because I don’t know what I want to do or what I like to do, I think it’s more just like thinking years in the head is a little but tough for me”.

He further stated, “I like to play golf, so I would like to see where my golf games at I haven’t been able to play as much as I would liked to this year”. After this, he spoke about how in his mid 20s, his decisions and environs play a vital role in devision making and it is interesting to see how anything can happen. It has been a great year overall for the pole vaulter and with him being nominated as athlete of the year, he also left the internet in awe by sharing some of his 2023 moments.

Mondo Duplantis has been shining bright this entire year and his performances are a proof of it. After his extraordinary performances in the entire season, he shared a bunch of pictures on his Instagram account going down the memory lane. He captioned the post as, “A few unreal moments from the season, before we look onwards.”

The first picture was of him draped in a Swedish flag, second was of him sharing a wholesome kiss with his girlfriend, Desire Inglander. Moving forward, he also shared a picture of him posing in front of his fans after his 6.23- meter record-breaking vault. This vault is one of the major reasons that gave the chance of the Athlete of the Year award a push. This has been an incredible journey, and with this champion in the picture, his admirers are always on their toes to witness the next great thing done by him. He is sure to excel in golf as well as he does in pole vaulting.
