Jamaican sprinting icon, Shericka Jackson concluded her 2023 season on a great note. She not only clocked the fourth-fastest time in 200m at the Brussels Diamond League (21.48) but also stood atop the podium at the 2023 Prefontaine Classic. By clinching both 100m and 200m triumphs, Jackson took home a double gold victory by asserting her dominance in the 2023 Eugene Diamond League.

After settling for silver at the 2023 World Athletics Championship against Sha?Carri Richardson’s gold winning 100m performance, Shericka Jackson defeated the 23-year-old in the 100m heat on the tracks of Oregon. Following this staunch win, the athlete also clinched another victory to her name in the 200-meter finals.

Shericka Jackson grabs two golds at the 2023 Diamond League Finals

On the second day of the Prefontaine Classic, Shericka Jackson won the 200-meter race. According to the NBC Olympics and Paralympics, “Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson finishes her season undefeated in the women?s 200m to claim the Diamond League.”

The 29-year-old lifted the 200-meter diamond league trophy by finishing the event in 21.57 seconds, followed by Marie-Josee Ta Lou, who secured the second position in 22.10 seconds. The third position was secured by Bahamian sprinter Anthonique Strachan in 22.16 seconds.

This win comes 24 hours after the athlete defeated the American sprinting icon Sha?Carri Richardson in Hayward Field on 16th September.

The 29-year-old lifted her 100-meter Diamond League trophy by finishing the race in 10.70 seconds, while Sha?Carri Richardson secured a fourth place by clocking 10.80 seconds. Though, Jackson trounced Richardson in the 100m heat to tack home the Diamond League trophy, Richardson gave her a staunch competition on the tracks of Budapest to lift the World Champion title.

In August, Sha?Carri Richardson won her first-ever world championship title. The athlete clinched the gold by surpassing her Jamaican counterparts in the 100m heat in the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

While Richardson crossed the finish line in 10.65 seconds and stood atop the podium, Jackson clocked the timeframe of 10.72 and finished second. However, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce sprinted her way through the finish line in 10.77 seconds and secured the bronze.

However, While Jackson settled in 2nd place in 100m, she dominated the 200m heat in Budapest by finishing in 21.41 seconds. Interestingly, she replicated her performance in the Zurich Diamond league (21.82) and then in the Brussels Diamond league (21.48).
