“Show me how Sah’carri can be the first American woman to win an Olympic gold in the 100. In nearly 30 years,” Keke Palmer issues. The last an American woman won a 100m Olympic gold dates back to 1996 Atlanta when Gail Devers bested Jamaican Merlene Ottey for the honor. There have been three more medals since, but only in silver.

In August 2023, Sha’carri Richardson recorded 10.65 seconds to best Shericka Jackson and become the first US woman since late Tori Bowie in 2017 to clinch the win. The triumph earned her the title of ‘fastest woman in the world’. Having established that, Richardson is now primed for Paris.
