Recently, at the New Balance Grand Prix, the athletes have set the bars significantly high, which the gymnasts, swimmers, or equestrians will find hard to match. In a podcast named “World champion Josh Kerr before 2 mile world record attempt at Millrose Games”, the 26-year-old opened up about being a World Champion and how he has wrapped his head around it. The question went, “How is it now handling all the expectations?” Kerr responded, “I think the expectations everybody has I already had of myself and so you know it’s not really it’s not really too much of a change”.

He further said that the external pressure does increase after finishing on top, but the mindset remains the same. He’s stepping foot on the heated Millrose track to defend his 1500m title, in his most awaited season opener. “Confidence is pretty high, but I’m ready to compete at a high level”, said he who has the coolest track look. Historic feat at the World Champions left the record holder behind
Having nabbed the world records in the 1500m, 2000m and 2 mile, Jakob Ingebrigtsen went head-on with Kerr at the WAC in Budapest. Though the former solidified his status with the 5000m gold, he fell short in the 1500m. In the mean time, it was Kerr who flew to victory donning his classic sunglasses.

Clocking in at 3:29.38, Kerr not only left the fans in awe, but also the reigning champ himself. His statement after was proof that he’s not in a mood to mess around: “I knew it was my time to come away [with gold], and when you’re the underdog you come out and take what’s yours.” The same mindset he’s carrying forward in 2024 as well.
