Lyles got the inspiration for the walk-in after scrolling through images of the most fashionable athletes posted by GQ Magazine, per sources. The anime fan imagined a stylish red-carpet photo opportunity for track athletes where they could express themselves via clothing. However, the world champ noticed something about GQ’s list of fashionable athletes and said, “Why aren’t there any track and field people in here?” While he didn’t get much success initially, track athletes are now joining him because of an increased need for personal branding.
