The Diamond League has reached its 12th round. After a long hiatus, on Thursday, the league successfully finished its 11th round in one of the largest cities in the world, Zurich. Top-notch athletes like Sha’Carri Richardson, Shericka Jackson, and Noah Lyles dominated the events by leaving behind their track rivals.
However, in the 12th round of the Diamond League held in Xiamen, Noah Lyles will not be present to create a perfect storm on the tracks. And amid this situation, Fred Kerley has decided to take on the responsibility of winning the 100-meter event for the United States.

Fred Kerley is ready to win
After Noah Lyle’s win in the 11th round of the Diamond League held in Zurich, Fred Kerley is looking forward to maintaining the streak. The athlete who recently shifted his focus towards the 100m and 200m will be participating in the 100m race in the Xiamen Diamond League.
Interestingly, one day before the highly anticipated race, Noah Lyles’s track partner decided to silence his haters in an interview. On Friday, Wanda Diamond League posted the video on Twitter with the caption “The gauntlet is officially laid down by Fred Kerley ahead of tomorrow’s 100-meter showdown at Xiamen Diamond League.
"Only one person can win, and that's me – simple."

In the video, while being asked about the race, confident Kerley said, “We all came for one common goal: to win, and only one person can win, and that’s me. Simple.” Apart from Kerley, three-time world champion hurdler Grant Holloway will also be present at the Diamond League. Interestingly, newly crowned World Champion Noah Lyles has decided not to join the staunch team. After back-to-back events, the athlete decided to not participate in the event.

Noah Lyles was absent from the event
In the 2023 season, Noah Lyles etched his name alongside the legends of track and field. The athlete not only managed to break Usain Bolt’s record but also secured a historic triple win at the World Athletics Championships. However, with back-to-back events, the athlete went candid about his continuous participation. After his win at the Zurich Diamond League, the athlete confessed to the media, “I’m not going to lie. I’m pretty tired. It was a short turnaround, after less than a week of running,” Amid this situation, the newly crowned world champion has decided not to join the forces of Fred Kerley on the Xiamen tracks.

Nonetheless, despite the absence of Noah Lyles with such zeal and confidence, Fred Kerley will most likely emerge as the winner on the track. Hopefully, Noah Lyles will join his teammates soon to raise the prestigious Diamond League trophy in Eugene.
