With the World Athletics Championship coming towards an end the track and field community has announced the nominees for the World Athlete of the year. Some of the best entities have been nominated for this category, including Sha’Carri Richardson, Shericka Jackson, Noah Lyles, Mondo Duplantis, and many more. The entire track and field community is on its toes waiting to see who will nab this accolade.

The most exciting competition to witness will be amongst Richardson and her favorite person Mondo Duplantis. They are more than two athletes competing for the title, they are also former teammates at LSU and friends. After witnessing the athletes nominated for the prize, the internet clearly chose their side cheering the loudest under a social media post.

Representing USA and Sweden, both athletes have been one of the close friends. This sprinter and pole vaulter duo seems unusual to so many, but their connection goes way back. Both of them began their athletic career at Louisiana State University, back in 2018 where they got in as freshmen and left the place as NCAA champions.

The USA athlete winning the ‘The Bowerman’ trophy in 2019 and the Swedish athlete was a finalist for the same award the same year. Since then, their friendship never went unnoticed. After the nominations were announced, LSU posted the nominations on their Instagram account. They shared a picture of both the athletes announcing their nominations.

The caption to the post said, “Your nominees for @worldathletics’ World Athlete of the Year are…..” accompanied by a sparkling emoji. The internet went crazy over the nominations and made their choice more than clear through the comment section. Richardson’s influence and fan following was felt as cheering for her echoed the loudest.

After the announcement of Sha’Carri Richardson and Mondo Duplantis to be the two names for the World Athlete of the Year award, the US athlete’s admirers were the first to pour their love for her in the comment section. One of them completely sure of her win stated, “Carri you got this”. Following this, another one stated, “Shacarri taking it”.

Keeping Richardson’s most of the winning sin consideration one of her fans stated, “Shacarri for sure. First world championships and came out with two pb’s, two championships records, 2 gold medals and a bronze? Ofc she should be a part of the conversation”. After this overwhelming comment, another admirer in line stated, “Carri all the way”.
