Thunder and rain came together as the runners geared up on the track in Manchester. And when the light bid farewell to the sky, the athletes’ devotion to winning was bright enough to pave their way. Yesterday, on the rainy tracks of Manchester, a high level of athletics was witnessed by the fans.

Despite all the hurdles the track and field department is facing these days, be it rain or not getting the attention they deserve from the world. The athletes seem to rise above, as on Saturday, men?s 100-meter UK athletics champion Zarnel Hughes added another victory to his name.

Men?s 2023 UK Championship 100-meter race

On July 8, the Men?s 100-meter race was held in Manchester, UK. And just as the race began due to the monsoon season, the weather took a turn for the worse. Yet the athletes gave their best at the track, as Zharnel Hughes won his first 100-meter title of the year. The British athlete fought against all odds to reach the finish line first in 10.03 seconds. In an interview with the Guardian, the athlete stated, ?Come rain, sun or shine you perform regardless,? “I train in these conditions sometimes in Jamaica. But I am soaked, these conditions are the worst ever.”

Furthermore, after eleven seconds, Reece Prescod reached the second step of the podium at 10.14 seconds. While Amo-Dadzie, a British chartered accountant who followed his passion for athletics, secured the third position with 10.18s. Many Fans applauded the athletes for their passion for the game, as an athletic account posted a video captioned, “This was the monsoon-like scene during the men’s 100m at the UK Athletics Championships. Imagine running in those conditions.

On the other hand, in the women?s 100-meter race, which was delayed by half an hour due to a power outage, Dina Asher-Smith gained her fifth title at 11.06 seconds. While the other athletes followed the British sprinter with just a few seconds difference at the Manchester Regional Arena.

Yesterday, on a gloomy day in Manchester Dani Asher finished the 100-meter UK women?s race in just 11.06 seconds. Later in an interview, the athlete highlighted her passion for athletics as she affirmed that she’s ready for the race in any situation. Asher thinks that with enough focus she can surpass anything thrown at her including slippery tracks. Furthermore, the runner was followed by Imani Lansiquout and Bianca Williams with 11.26 s and 11.29 s, respectively. Hence, giving Asher and Laniquot, the top two racers, a ticket to Budapest for the world championship in August

Overall, both races were truly inspirational to witness, as the athletes reached the pinnacle of sportsmanship by fighting against all odds. Hopefully, the athletes will exhibit the same performance at the World Championship next month in Budapest.
