Jamaican track sensation Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, opened the season with the Continental Gold Tour’s Kip Keino Classic 100m. Here, she won with ease, clocking a 10.67 with a -0.4 m/s headwind. Her personal best still stands at 10.60, set last August in 2021.

With Fraser-Pryce, it was an expected result as her top competitors pulled out of the event. However, 18-year-old Namibian athlete Christine Mboma suffered an injury, and she had to be carried out on a stretcher. In a touching video, we see Fraser-Pryce comforting Mboma in the aftermath and cheering her up.

Fraser-Pryce showed compassion for her fellow competitor, and the fans went crazy. Getting hailed as the queen, the athlete’s popularity has skyrocketed once again.

Christine Mboma’s injury

With Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce’s top competitors like Sha’Carri Richardson and Elaine Thompson-Herah, pulling out of the Kip Keino Classic 100m, Christine Mboma was the favorite to go up against Fraser-Pryce. Mboma is a rising sprint star, the one to watch out for. She is an Olympic silver medalist and world U20 champion in the 200m. At first, Mboma was hot on Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce’s trail, pushing in second. Unfortunately, Mboma pulled a hamstring in the middle with almost 30 meters and could not even finish the race. It seems that sometimes a wild stroke of luck can make or break the match. They carried Mboma out on a stretcher.

“You just have to rest and treat and just keep your head strong,” Fraser-Pryce says. “You’ll be good.”

Fraser-Pryce has already established herself as one of the greatest sprinters of all time. Notably, she has won three Olympic sprint medals to go with her 10 world titles. Moreover, her personal best of 10.60 in the 100m makes her the third-fastest woman in history. Fans are already crazy about ‘Mommy Rocket’, and this incident just puts the cherry on top.
