Notably, Elaine ran her personal best time of 10.54s at the Eugene Diamond League in 2021. This time is just five-hundredths of a second slower than the FloJo’s world record. As a Nike athlete, Elaine is expected to take part in this year’s Nike Prefontaine Classic scheduled to take place on the 28th of May.
Chasing FloJo’s record
Florence Griffith-Joyner set the world record for 100m with a time of 10.49s in 1988. Although controversial, the time still stands. Many athletes have tried to beat the record, but all have failed. The Jamaicans, however, are closing in on the gap day by day. Elaine spoke in an interview about how she is targeting FloJo’s incredible record.
