Slater is 50 years old today and is nearing the age of his retirement. He explains in his interview how he is the oldest guy to ever compete. Additionally, when he joined the sport and started touring, the oldest guy was as young as 28 years old. “I would say in the 80s…you could make the money if you were the top 5 guy, but it didn’t look like you could have like this crazy career. So guys weren’t thinking longevity, they were like, let’s go and have a freaking good time…” Slater explained to Joe Rogan.
