Sergino Dest scored an absolute blinder last night to reignite the hopes of the USMNT to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. On Wednesday, in pursuit of glory, the Americans faced Costa Rica in a nail-biting clash.

Interestingly, the USMNT was represented by its youngest ever team for the qualifiers. Initially, the match was going in favor of Costa Rica, until Dest unleashed a rocket into the top corner, and thus began the turnaround.

Sergino Dest saves the day

Costa Rica vs USMNT faced each other last night, in Columbus, Ohio. Notably, Costa Rica made an impressive start, stunning the home crowd with an opening goal. Keysher Fuller scored within the opening minutes of the game, silencing the fans with an early lead.

Having already lost their last match against Panama, the fans dreaded a similar result. Just then, stepped up Sergino Dest, scoring an equalizer with a sensational strike. Dest launched a left-footed rocket into the top corner, sending a resounding cheer across the stadium, bringing the score to 1-1.

Sergino was unstoppable on Wednesday, as he shot the goal despite his shoelaces being untied.

It was indeed a huge win for the Americans who have been trying to make a strong comeback. Notably, they had missed out on the Tokyo Olympics 2020, after failing to qualify.

Way forward for the USMNT

With their win against Costa Rica, USMNT have given life to the once dying hopes of fans. The American team now has 11 points and is in the second position. Notably, out of the last four matches, they have clinched three.
