The dominance of Venus Williams and Megan Rapinoe is just not limited to the court or field. The two prominent faces of America’s sports world are known for their outspoken nature. While Venus boasts of having four Olympic gold medals to credit, Megan led the USWNT to victory during the London Olympics. Despite coming from different sporting backgrounds, the two are united by their ideologies.

The nation’s pride, both athletes have been very vocal on equality and are advocates for equal pay. Leading a hand of solidarity and praise, Tennis champion Venus praised soccer player Megan Rapinoe by referring to her as a “beast.”

Venus praises Rapinoe

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the historical judgment that prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government, Venus appreciated Rapinoe. A firm believer in “equality,” Megan and her teammate Alex sued the U.S. Soccer in a case for ‘gender discrimination.’

Praising Megan for her strong choices, Venus wrote. “Megan is a beast.” Calling her “magnificent on the field,” she hailed her as an inspiration. The Grand Slam winner adds, “many women are going to benefit from, for generations to come.”

Venus can relate to Megan Rapinoe

Having faced hardships, Venus can know what it “feels like.” Much like Rapinoe, Venus fought for equal pay. She became the first woman in 2007 to receive equal prize money at Wimbledon. Before that, the male player’s received higher prize money than the women.

Creating milestones for the younger generation, Megan and Morgan settled their class-action equal pay lawsuit against U.S. Soccer for $24 million. Following this as a breath of fresh air, U.S. Soccer made vital policy changes. They committed to providing equal pay regardless of gender in all sporting events.
