“A Big Metal Bolt.. Hit Me”- US Olympic Star Suffers Horrifying Assault by Homeless Man in LA

Olympic silver medalist volleyball player and model Kim Glass posted a video on Instagram detailing a horrific attack on her by a homeless man. The 37-year-old shared that she was leaving a lunch meetup with her friends when she was attacked.

The video went viral and started a conversation around random acts of violence in Los Angeles, where the incident took place. The California native warned her fans and followers to stay calm and assured them she suffered no permanent damage.

Olympian Attacked on the streets of Los Angeles

In an 11-part story, she posted permanently to her page, Kim Glass detailed the incident after she visited the hospital. The attack happened in downtown Los Angeles. “I was saying goodbye to a friend and this homeless man ran up,” Glass narrated.

“He just looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes. And as I turned to go tell my friend, ‘I think there’s something wrong with him and I think he’s gonna hit the car.’ Before I knew it, a big metal bolt, like a pipe, hit me… it happened so fast. He literally flung it from the street,” she continued, gesturing to her swollen eye and injured nose bridge.

The man didn’t approach her but was restrained by the onlookers until the police arrived. The ambulance took her to the hospital and found out she didn’t permanently damage her vision. But the Sports Illustrated model suffered multiple fractures above and under her eye and received stitches.

She reassured her followers that she was okay and asked them to be careful. “There’s a lot of mentally ill people on these streets right now,” she said. “Shouldn’t have to be fearful when we walk, but it’s true.”

Who is Kim Glass?

Kimberly Marie Glass is an American volleyball player who joined the national team in 2007 and played for Rabita Baku. She helped Team USA win the silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.

Glass made significant achievements, right from the beginning of her volleyball career. For instance, she was a member of the United States’ Women’s Junior National Team. During her college years, she was a three-time AVCA All-American and a four-time All-Pac-10 pick. The model also helped Team USA win the FIVB World Grand Prix in 2011.

Glass competed on the special for the MTV reality series The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars in 2017 and almost made it to the final round. According to her Instagram, she currently works as a fitness trainer.
