Ally Batenhorst is a vital part of USC’s volleyball title ambitions. This was seen during their game against their crosstown rivals, UCLA. The Trojans had a resounding victory over them, winning 3-0 in a three-set match last month. Their dominance in the match can be proven by the fact that the Bruins failed to steal a single frame. Throughout the victory, Ally Batenhorst was the focal point of her team. Her performance was incredibly special as she almost single-handedly led her team to the winning column. The outside hitter recorded 16 kills and an incredible hitting record of 0.536.

This performance led to an amazing achievement that etched her name in USC volleyball history. She became the first-ever player in the college to be named the Big Ten player of the week. It was a huge deal, leading most college volleyball enthusiasts to congratulate her on social media. But just as she has been soaking in all the praise, reality hit her: She will soon have to say goodbye to her illustrious stint at the NCAA.

Imaginary person: “You’re done in a month.”
Batenhorst: “I still play volleyball (crying emoji).”

She captioned the video, saying, No way, it’s almost over🥺🥺 still can’t process being a senior.” This shows how she is having a hard time dealing with the end of college, a place that gave her all her recognition.

The fact that she had an incredible volleyball career during her years divided between Nebraska and USC might add to her sadness. She played a major role in Nebraska’s two runner-up finishes in NCAA Division 1 in 2021 and 2023.

After this, she moved to USC, where she has been a brilliant player, helping them fight for the title. But, as talks of the future loom in, one might wonder about her future plans. However, Ally Batenhorst seems to be quite clear about it. The reason she moved to USC was because of her future.

What does Ally Batenhorst have in mind for her future?

Ally Batenhorst is still coming to terms with the impending end of her college. But what might help to regard her future is her clarity about the situation. When she left Nebraska for USC, the volleyball player revealed that she was thinking about her future. She transferred with one year of eligibility remaining.

“I have chosen to enter the transfer portal and start my masters degree elsewhere. This was one of the hardest decisions i’ve ever had to make, but I have decided that this is what’s best for me personally. My heart is so full and I wouldn’t trade my experience as a husker for the world. I can’t express how much love I have for the incredible people I have met during my time with the program. It has been truly unforgettable and the memories will last forever,” she wrote on Instagram in January.

But there could have been more to the story. Her decision to transfer could have been influenced by redshirt senior Taylor Landfair’s decision to commit to Nebraska in January. After all, with Landfair’s addition, Batenhorst would have to contend with Landfair, sophomore Harper Murray, and senior Lindsay Krause.

Regardless, moving to California opens up a lot of opportunities for her in media as well.

Further, the state also increases her chances of exploring professional volleyball or a coaching career. That’s the biggest reason she left Nebraska. In hindsight, it was probably the right decision. Volleyball aside, Ally Batenhorst has made her presence known on social media sites, as she has more than 177,000 followers on TikTok and 102,000 on Instagram.

If Ally Batenhorst wants to, she could also go into a career as a social media influencer after her stint with USC. The fact that she currently lives in California definitely helps in that regard. Thus, she has a lot of options open for her future, including a master’s degree.

In the end, it will be interesting to see what choice she makes. Irrespective of that, the legacy she has created at NCAA will remain.
