Over the years, the Nebraska Huskers have carved a name for themselves as one of the country’s most prominent volleyball powers. While their national dreams last season met an unexpected halt when they met the Texas Longhorns at the NCAA finals, the Huskers’ emphatic Big Ten conference win would be enough to compensate for the disappointment, many would agree. However, it looks like the Huskers’ last season didn’t go unnoticed and their colleagues are determined to pay the women’s team the honor they deserve.

In a recent social media post, the country’s No. 1 women’s volleyball team is seen stealing the show at a men’s basketball match and the oozing happiness cannot be overlooked. With the Huskers looking forward to fulfilling their goals this year, the extra boost in the engine is probably all they need to bring out their A-game.

In a post on X by volleyball pundit Lincoln Arneal, the Huskers’ squad can be seen being hailed by a cheerful crowd during the Nebraska men’s basketball team clash against Ohio State. The men’s team scooped up a brilliant 83-69 win in their NCAA matchup, but it was the women’s volleyball team who were in the limelight. “The Nebraska volleyball team was recognized at tonight’s men’s basketball game against Ohio State for its Big Ten championship and national runner-up finish,” reads the caption of the post.

Anyone who’s kept an eye on the Huskers’ sensational run in the conference, as well as in the national tournament, can’t help but feel glee at the scenes from Lincoln, Nebraska. Huskers volleyball players can be seen smiling ear-to-ear as they took turns throwing Huskers shirts into the stands and the crowd kept cheering the entire time. The amount of applause the women’s volleyball team earns shows exactly what they bring to the table for the Huskers and why the team is considered to be among the best in the country’s collegiate circuit.

Even last year’s SEC winners, the Pittsburgh Panthers were decimated by the Huskers in the semi-final matchup. On the other hand, the Nebraska team bagged the prestigious Big Ten title after a long gap of seven years by defeating the powerhouse Iowa. With the team being crowned by their fans for their last season’s exploits, it waits to be seen if the support helps them take care of the unfinished business this time around.

One take at a time

Growing up, I didn’t really have an interest in Olympic sports, but it was always something intriguing. As I found the means and the opportunity to explore its world, I found sports like volleyball, and track & field to be something that had tons to offer instead of just scoring through kills and sprinting toward the finish line. Whether it is Nebraska Huskers dominating the court or Noah Lyles maintaining his winning spree on the tracks, these two sports never fail to serve adrenaline rush to their spectators.
