Soon after the conclusion of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, the spotlight continues to shine on the Texas Longhorns’ remarkable list of achievements. Fresh off their success, the Longhorns’ key athletes are the major reason for social media storms these days. Interestingly, Addison Zamzow and Kyla Hill have garnered recognition for securing the prestigious Texas High School Coaches Association’s 2023 Volleyball Academic All-State Team.

Along the same lines, three incredible Texas Longhorns volleyball team players will be heading toward the upcoming training camps. The recent announcements mark a significant moment for not only the Texas players but also the Columbus Team.

 Asija O’Neal joins training camp

As the Texas Longhorns’ recent victory echoes, anticipation is built for the upcoming Columbus Fury Preseason Training Camp before the 2024 inaugural session on January 25. Columbus Fury took to the Twitter account to announce this shocking revelation and shared a post. They penned, “Preseason camp is right around the corner! We can’t wait to get the team on the court!

Interestingly, this year’s training camps are all set to witness an infusion of three promising players from Texas Longhorns by making their mark in the recent Pro Volleyball Federation Draft. Leading the pack is the first pick, Asija O’Neal of Texas Longhorns, accompanied by Reagan Cooper, the 14th pick, and Jenaisya Moore, the 28th pick. 

The first overall pick, Asija O Neal, features being 2X NCAA Volleyball Champion and 3X All-American Winner. However, she is not the only outstanding player on the roster, as Columbus’ Fury includes notable players, including Megan Courtney Lush. Lush is known for two-time NCAA National Championship win and 2014 Most Outstanding Player for the NCAA Tournament accomplishment.

In addition, the roster would boast talented Buckeye greats Ashley Wenz, Raymariely Santos, and Ivania Ortiz. Even though there are commendable players on the list, the team roster will be trimmed to only 14 players, excluding two practice players. Therefore, by January 22, the intensity of the competition would rise for the players as they will be fighting for the coveted spot. 

About Columbus Fury training camp

In a momentous stride towards the 2024 season, the Columbus Fury is all set to kick off its training camp on Tuesday, January 2. The three-week camp of two practice sessions each day will be under the valuable guidance of coach Angel Perez. To express his enthusiasm, Perez stated to Columbus Fury, “We are excited to start training camp and get our team in the gym. We are looking forward to getting everyone to Columbus and to begin building our Fury culture for the inaugural season!

These training camps are scheduled to take place at Mintonette Sports at Polaris Fashion Mall, Columbus, USA. Overall, the spectators are anticipating their favorites will perform well to clinch a spot in the top 14 rosters. Even though all the players feature astonishing records, only 14 would make it. Will Asija O’Neal be able to clinch one of the coveted spots?
