The Nebraska Huskers are running riot in the NCAA volleyball championship. After a clean slate in the group stages, the Huskers maintained their momentum as they trodded over Georgia Tech to inch closer to the top spot. Considering the Huskers are high on adrenaline after their Big Ten win this year after 7 years, their current form shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, even after the debacle in the hands of Nebraska, one of the Yellow Jackets’ stars managed to steal the show.

Bianca Bertolino of Georgia Tech reached a personal career milestone on the very day the Yellow Jackets were seen out of this year’s NCAA championship. While this personal achievement may not be significant given the final score, Bertolino can surely rest assured that she gave her all in the court.

Georgia Tech star hits new achievement

Georgia Tech went straight through South Alabama and Florida in their first two rounds. However, with the Huskers’ recent glory in the Big Ten conference, the Yellow Jackets knew they had a grueling task ahead. Unsurprisingly, Nebraska secured their spot at the Sweet-8 with a clean sweep over the Yellow Jackets. However, during the match, Georgia’s outside hitter Bianca Bertlino reached a staggering 1,000 digs in her career. The official Georgia Tech account took to social media to celebrate the incredible achievement of their star, writing, “That’s our BB!”

Her defensive bumps have helped the Yellow Jackets on many occasions to stay in the game and come back from an adverse situation. “Congratulations to @BiancaBertolin0 for recording her 1000th career dig today!“, commemorates the post on X. While Georgia Tech now needs to turn its attention to the next season, the Yellow Jackets will at least be going home with something to feel good about. Meanwhile, the playoffs are keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats.

The NCAA championship making our palms sweat

As the championship goes ahead, volleyball fans across the country are being treated to some spectacular moments. In the third round of the tournament, the no. 1-seed Pittsburgh Panthers ripped apart Washington State with a 3-0 clean sweep to forge ahead. The mighty Wisconsin Badgers also steamrolled Penn State to register their name in the Sweet 8.

Louisville also triumphed over Creighton while the Arkansas Razorbacks secured their place in the next round, after breezing past Kentucky. Now, with the Huskers casting its shadow over their opponents, it waits to be seen how the Yellow Jackets turn things around in the next season.
