Louisville Cardinals were very close to clinching the NCAA title this season. The team attained the No. 1 rank coming into the tournament and was labeled heavy favorites to win the whole thing. This notion only gained even more credence when the team defeated Pitt State in the semifinals with a scoreline of 3-1. The victory convinced a lot of spectators that they were witnessing a title run by Louisville and could very well emerge as the victors in the finals.

But in the finals, the volleyball side met Penn State. The Nittany Lions came off an incredible semi-final victory, which saw them come back to win the game from a two-set deficit. They ended up winning the game 3-2 and setting up their final against Louisville. Unfortunately for the latter, Penn State continued their stellar form and won the game 3-1, becoming the NCAA champions. Thus, it was a pretty sad day for the Louisville fans. They came agonizingly close to the price. But it seems they have some happy news after all. The volleyball team is all set to sign Chloe Chicoine from Purdue University. She has two years of eligibility left and is a great signing for the team.

Lincoln Armeal from Huskers Illustrated first reported the news saying, “Chloe Chicoine is transferring to Louisville. The 5’10” outside hitter averaged 3.08 kills and 2.95 digs per set for Purdue last season. She was an All-American as a freshman and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.” Louisville fans expressed their delight with the news.

This is because they recently had to see Anna DeBeer graduate from college, which was quite a blow for the team. The 6-foot outside hitter cemented her status as one of the best players on the roster. Therefore, her departure could have massive ramifications. Hence, Chloe’s transfer had to go well with the team. Because the player might easily become a like-for-like replacement for the departing player, the fans were excited about this prospect as well.

Louisville fans brim with excitement over new signing

Many fans were over the moon with the signing. This is because the fans had received some good news after quite a while. With the NCAA final defeat still looming in their memory and the Anna DeBeer graduation blow, the Louisville side has seen better days. But the transfer of Chloe Chicoine to their side offers some respite, “I can sleep better tonight, Lincoln, lol,” said one fan.

These people were also so happy to see Anna DeBeer being replaced with little difficulty. The side would’ve suffered heavily had they not done this, as Anna has been Louisville’s best player for at least the past season. Anna had recorded 408 kills, 27 service aces, and 27 kills during her career. For her efforts, the player was named the top female athlete in Kentucky. Thus, she is very highly regarded, making the player extremely difficult to replace. But with Chloe Chicoine’s transfer, the pressure is much lesser on the team. “Anna DeBeer graduates, but you get Chloe Chicoine as a transfer,” said one user.

Another fan highlighted how both the players are very similar in their attributes and thus would make Chloe’s entry into the team quite easy as the player has played in pretty much the exact same role in Purdue. The fan said, “Swapped out one undersized OH for another 🤷🏻‍♂️” Another user, however, raised an interesting subject.

They believed that Chloe Chicoine’s height is not 5’10, as according to them she is shorter than that. “5’10”🤣. I don’t think so. If so, Andi Jackson is 6’9” and Smrek is a 7-footer.” The real height of Andi Jackson on the Nebraska Huskers website is listed as 6 ft 3 inches. Wisconsin Badgers list Anna Smrek’s height as 6 feet 9 inches. Thus, the user claims they would be even taller if Chloe is 5’10. This would be an interesting talking point if some truth was found in it.

But for now, the Louisville fans are excited about the prospect of the player playing for their team as she significantly improves their roster. “Lord knows we need outside hitters with our best hitters graduating.” Thus, Louisville will be hoping that the transfer works out for the best and the player is as successful as Anna DeBeer.
