The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel has given its green light after an alteration to the regulation that governs the women’s volleyball teams. Among all the adjustments that are made, the major one stands to be a nod to players permitted to make contact with the ball during the team’s second attempt. However, the attempt to pass the ball over the net will be considered a failure, leading to the forfeiture of the point.

The rules are primarily directed at the candidates. The decision has been made by the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Rules Committee, and the in-depth meeting for the rule change was attempted in January. The motto of these modifications is to eliminate subjective judgment calls with officiating double contact and to maintain a clear aspect within the sports arena.

NCAA Volleyball is set for transformation

According to the committee, the additional charges will create a flow and encourage both the players and the authorities to participate more efficiently. The news came on the official Twitter page of AVCA with the caption, “The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved some changes for women’s volleyball, including allowing double contacts and the designation of two liberos per set.”

The adjustment about the double contact has been taken care of, as only one libero will be granted on the court at a time. The panel decides that they will enjoy the liberty of serving in a single position. This will not only provide the players with more active opportunities but will also enhance their action during the game. The spectators will get a clear understanding of how things are going during the period.

The committee also sanctioned many other changes, which included giving referees the power to deliver the red card during the time needed. For example, they can pull it out when home teams have spectators enriching the playing area, especially when the host administrator fails to address the issues. Another principle of not touching the opponent has been added to the list. If there is any visible review of the matter, then it will be reconsidered.

The jewelry rules have also been highlighted; small, snug-fitting nose rings and earcuffs are allowed. All the issues need to be removed from the match itself to save time and the resolution process. Lastly, there is an experimental rule that also got access, ranting against the women’s team’s option to employ men’s international volleyball during the nontraditional season. These changes will make the game more well-organized and structured.
