Pittsburgh Panthers women’s volleyball team is on a roll with their reverse sweep win against Louisville. With this, they secured a spot in the semifinals of the NCAA tournament while also avenging its 2022 defeat against Louisville in the semifinals. This caught the attention of none other than NFL Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger. The former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback made a special mention of the Panthers in the latest episode of his podcast.
Ben Roethlisberger talked about the latest match of the Lady Panthers and made a bold claim about their gameplay. Interestingly, Roethlisberger decided to speak about Pittsburgh Volleyball before anything else. He even revealed that he went to the stadium to watch one of its matches himself.

Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger recently uploaded the 46th episode of his Footbahlin podcast. Speaking about the Pittsburgh Panthers, Roethlisberger said, “We’re going to open up the show talking about the Lady Panthers volleyball team because we’ve talked about them recently. They’re the best sports team in Pittsburgh. You can argue all you want but it’s our show so no one can argue with us right.”

Interestingly, while Ben Roethlisberger played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, he wasn’t a Pittsburgh Panther in college. In fact, he was a Miami RedHawks through and through. Despite this, he has grown to love the game of the Lady Panthers and even went to see their playoff match against Washington State. While he enjoyed the victory of the Panthers against Washington State, the Steeler had the highest praise for the match that sealed Pittsburgh’s spot in the top four.

The redemption arc of the Panthers against Louisville
Ben Roethlisberger further talked about the national quarterfinal match Pittsburgh played against Louisville that resulted in a postseason revenge victory. Roethlisberger said, “Last year Louisville beat us in the final four. This year… we lost the first two sets and we went on a little run and took down the next three.” While this reverse sweep helped the Panthers advance further, it also inspired the NFL legend to enjoy volleyball as a sport.

The 41-year-old said, “I’ve been watching more and more volleyball because of this as I’m getting more and more into it. That doesn’t happen very often.” While the Pittsburgh Panthers have enjoyed a solid run so far, they will now face the numero uno-seed Nebraska Huskers in the semi-final. Will the Lady Panthers be able to make it to the finals against the relentless Nebraska?
