Omaha Supernovas are aiming to win the PVF. For the second time in a row. Facing off against Atlanta Vibe, the Supernovas picked up a thrilling victory to kickstart their title defense campaign. The star of the show? Outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller. Brutal in attack and rock solid in defense, the pro recorded 22 kills and 17 digs. The win also included an impressive performance by former Husker Ally Batenhorst who was substituted on for Cooper.

Despite playing for only 2 sets, the impact she had was phenomenal. Her incredible performance saw her notch up three digs and 6 kills. Her performance propelled Omaha to pick up a 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 15-13) victory. Riding high on confidence, the Supernovas next faced the Grand Rapids Rise. And looking to continue with their merry run, the team suffered a brutal injury scare.

Going 1-0 up with 1-1 in the second set, two of the biggest stars crashed into each other. As per updates from X account Lincoln Arneal of Huskers Illustrated, captain Brooke Nuneviller and Natalia Valentin-Anderson collided their heads in an attempt to go for a dig. Within seconds, the impact could be visible on both the players, who had to be helped physically to get up on their feet. While Valentin-Anderson walked off to the bench touching her ear/jaw area, the injury of Supernovas’ captain looked more serious.

Nuneviller could be spotted with a bloody nose, holding a towel trying to stem the flow. She did not return to the bench initially and went straight to the locker room to receive medical treatment. Thankfully, Valentin-Anderson returned to the match after a few moments while Ally Batenhorst checked in for the injured Nunevellir.

Notwithstanding tensions growing around their captain, things ultimately turned out to be quite good for the Omaha fans. After receiving medical attention, Nunevellir too, returned to the bench. As per the X update from Lincoln Arneal, “Valentin-Anderson will stay in the match. Batenhorst checks in for Nuneviller. It’s 1-1 in the second set. Omaha is up 1-0… Nuneviller is back on the bench. It looks like she might have just suffered a bloody nose.”

This update came as a comfort news for the fans as they immediately heaved a sigh of relief. After all, the Supernovas fans are known to be pretty much attached to the team. Echoing similar sentiments, as the Supernovas start their PVF journey, their fans are not shying away from showing off their support.

Interestingly, this was a significant number on the part of the Supernovas. Their fans established a new attendance record this year. Till now, the highest attendance recorded was back in March 2024. Back then, 12,090 people flocked to cheer for the Supernova girls. Having created a new record this season, Omaha is expected to deliver on high grounds.
