A fresh new volleyball season is approaching quickly, and changes are underway. While many collegiate players continue with their current schools, several others are eyeing new opportunities in the transfer portal. Multiple NCAA stars are seeking a fresh start in the upcoming season. A Penn State senior is the latest among a long list of names.

The Penn State volleyball team had a decent start to the 2023 NCAA campaign. But they had to bow down to the Wisconsin Badgers in the third round. Following the disappointment, Penn State’s libero, Maddy Bilinovic, has decided to end her four-year stint as a Nittany Lion.

Penn State star in the transfer limelight

The College Volleyball Transfers’ official X handle recently revealed that Maddy Bilinovic is available for transfer. With this development, Penn State is set to lose a key player next year. After her first two seasons as a Nittany Lion, Bilinovic was hailed as one of Penn State’s most prized assets. In the 2022 season, she recorded an impressive 437 digs and 28 aces.

Her current season hasn’t been too bad either, with 213 digs in 26 matches. Now, with one year of eligibility remaining, Bilinovic looks to lend her expertise to her new home with the hopes of ending her collegiate career on a high note. In her social media post, the libero said, “My four years at Penn State have allowed me to grow so much as a player and a person.

She also mentioned that Penn State has given her friends whom she will cherish for the rest of her life. Bilinovic also expressed her gratefulness to be a part of the Nittany Lions’ program, but remained firm in her search for the next chapter of her life and career.

More stars set their gaze on new territories

While the Penn State star seeks a new home, other volleyball sensations have also expressed their wishes to enroll in new schools as the next phase of their careers. Blocker Kennedy Collins of the Fighting Illini was also recently revealed to be leaving the Illinois camp after securing her spot as a program legend.

Along with that, Texas Longhorns grad student Reilly Heinrich was also among the names that have surfaced on the transfer portal ahead of the 2024-25 season. Now it waits to be seen what the future holds for these volleyball stars as they look to make things even bigger for themselves in the next year.
