Nebraska Huskers put on an assiduous show in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball this season. The program never let a whisk of not having many big names in the squad. Rather, the quality usurped the platform when tough questions were asked to the Huskers. However, the season finale faltered the pack of lion-hearted squads when the Texas Longhorns kept them at bay.

From then, Nebraska Huskers couldn’t shield the blows it was taking through the transfer portal. The moment of clarity became more significant when a devoted follower shared insider information, pointing towards a difficult future for the Huskers and other programs.

Matt Burnell dives deep in Nebraska Huskers’ woes

Earlier, seasoned journalist Talia Goodman already broke the transfer portal news of Nebraska Huskers’ MB Maggie Mendelson, by terming the fiasco untoward. However, volleyball follower Matt Burnell dissected the issue on the X meticulously. Calling the issue ‘a bummer’, he conceded, “Maggie is such an elite athlete but she was never really going to get the chance to be a star in either sport at Nebraska.

“She will do big things somewhere.” Soon in the thread, Burnell explained the reason as only 12 scholarships are available for the volleyball players. For a game of 6 with more players on the bench, that number feels abysmally low. In comparison, the basketball programs in the NCAA enjoy the cushion of 15 scholarships.

The issue went further south, as the Nebraska Huskers could only void the place with an MB. But having two alike already in the roster, the replacement would be cumbersome for the program. As Burnell added, they might need to offer the place to someone without giving a scholarship or they would have to force someone out from the outside position.

But two outside are already on the row and Nebraska Huskers will need to fill up those places as well. The retention also faces a hoax, as the recruitment never seizes as Burnell added. But still, he betted for Nebraska, as they have a good supply of local talents. But the situation of others trembled him.

Minnesota also faces the transfer blow

Matt Burnell assembled himself from thinking a deep hollow for programs like Nebraska Huskers, Texas, and Wisconsin as year after year they managed so well. But the guy grieved over the situation of Minnesota and watched the dissemination of its best players to other camps several times. He guessed,” but one and likely the second will be lost to their biggest rival”. This pointed towards the Minnesota redshirt Taylor Landfair’s shifting to the transfer portal this season. Last year it was Carter Booth whom Minnesota lost to Wisconsin. Both these players played at the pinnacle of the success of Minnesota and left with years in the program.

Now on this plinth of the juncture, Matt Burnell could only add, “It is just an eternal revolving door and you hope it clicks for a year.” For Nebraska Huskers, the coming days would be vital.
