WATCH: Christian Coleman Stunned by Marcel Jacob’s in Extremely Close Call at 60m World Championship Race

Marcell Jacobs has gone one step ahead and beat the World Champion. Beating Christian Coleman in a close race, the Olympic champion clinched the 60m title at the World Athletics Championships.

It was a very close competition between the Olympic 100m Champion and the World 100m Champion. However, it was Jacobs who proved his supremacy and went ahead to lay his hands on the title.

Lamont and Coleman are in a neck to neck 60m finals

All eyes were on both the sprinting champions. Lamont Marcell Jacobs’s Olympic win was called a fluke, so he had a lot to prove. Meanwhile, Christian Coleman had returned after an 18-month ban after failing drug tests. Both the sprinters had their own reasons to be out there, and they both had a lot to ascertain.

The World Athletics Championships is the next big event after the Olympics. While Jacobs had won the Gold medal at the 100m. it was Coleman who ruled the World Championships.

In a neck-to-neck race, both the athletes almost crossed the line at the same time. Notably, they touched the finishing line at 6.41 seconds. It came down to three-thousandths of a second for the final verdict; Jacobs had won.

“I hoped and prayed, please first, and it happened,” he said. Jacobs is also the European 60m champion. Additionally, he is also a long jumper.

“Now I’m an Olympic and world champion,” said Jacobs, who believes he has proved a point. But Coleman isn’t one to back down so easily.

Christian Coleman is not ready to back down

Christian Coleman is the current 100m World Champion. After losing out to Jacobs at the 60, Coleman is not yet ready to back down. He promised to be back in the summer.

“I think it’ll be neck and neck like today,” he said. “He’s a great athlete and I’m looking forward to the competition,” said Coleman. Notably, Coleman is the world indoor record holder in the 60m with a timing of 6.43 seconds.

He missed the 2020 Summer Olympics due to his drug ban. However, the athlete is now in full form and will soon be back again on the track to prove himself. Meanwhile, American athlete Marvin Bracy took home the bronze medal with a timing of  6.44.
