Curt Jensen is currently in his sixth year as a coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Working as a Branch Manager, he runs his own high school and collegiate strength and conditioning program for the students. The Instagram page of Throwers Universe recently featured one of Jensen’s videos on their handle. The video showcased Jensen pulling off perfectly clean weight lifts in the gym without even breaking a sweat.

The video carried the caption, “Curt Jensen is without a doubt one of THE strongest Shot Putters of our generation.” The clip also mentioned that the shot put coach pulled off a 250kg/550lbs hang clean pull and a 207kg/455lbs hang clean & jerk. This is a phenomenal performance when it comes to weightlifting standards. While not many can claim to have even performed a 455-pound clean and jerk, the video shows Jensen manage it easily. In fact, the shot put coach has also broken past the 500-pound barrier.

Shot put coach with immense weightlifting ability

While Curt Jensen doesn’t weightlift competitively, his feats in the gym have astounded everyone. In recent times, only about four athletes have managed to perform a clean and jerk lift over 500 pounds. But, through his self-shot videos in his gym, the shot put coach has garnered a lot of attention for breaking past the 500-pound mark. Interestingly, the unofficial world record for the highest filmed clean and jerk stands at 270kg or 595 lbs.

The record belongs to the legendary weightlifter Georgia’s Lasha Talakhdze who also filmed himself in a gym. Officially, the record stands at 264kg or 582 pounds. The fact that Jensen can pull off the spectacular feat without being a traditional weightlifter is absolutely unbelievable. As the popularity of the shot put coach grows, maybe he may inch closer to the world record.
