The tragic event
The accident event put a finger on the training session, as it took place in the Altenberg when Sandro Michel was serving as a brakeman in a four-man sled. He was piloted by Michael Vogt when they encountered the severe crash. The accident threw him from his seat. Michel got hit on the icy track on the sled, and the halt began sliding back down the chute uncontrollably. In the grim turnover, Michel was stuck by the out-of-control sled, leading to a couple of major injuries on his leg, hip, thigh, and chest.

Immediate attention was needed; however, the hospital was in Dresden, which was approximately 75 miles away from the crash site; thus, he was airlifted there. Following the surgery, his condition is now stabilized, with several ongoing assessments required for his full recovery. On the other hand, Vogt suffered from a severe concussion and minor injuries, while the other pushers, including Dominik Hufschmid and Adrea Hass, were racked with slight injuries.
