American skiing GOAT Mikaela Shiffrin recently got all her fans worried as she ran into a menacing injury. The 28-year-old got her left knee busted over a week ago and has been recovering to compete in an upcoming event. But, while she is stuck with a nagging injury, that’s not the only thing bothering Shiffrin.

The Slalom Queen has been enduring the needless struggle induced because of the way the management schedules alpine skiing events. A recent social media post saw Mikaela Shiffrin talk about this issue, revealing that this has been bothering many top athletes. In fact, as Shiffrin pointed out, these issues are also a big contributing factor in the injuries sustained by skiers, including her.

Mikaela Shiffrin added a new tweet on X while posting a video and three images of a text. The images conveyed Shiffrin’s take on the event schedule put up by FIS and the toll it is taking on the athletes. Referring to the injuries sustained by the top athletes lately, Shiffrin wrote, “I just want to address the number of injuries there have been lately and send my best to all of those who are currently sidelined (including Sofia Goggia, most recently).” In the subsequent sentences, Shiffrin then tacitly took a dig to FIS.

Shiffrin wrote, “…The amount of injuries (especially among the top athletes) this year has been staggering…I absolutely agree with those who have asked that we take a better look at the demands on top athletes. Both from a race-calendar perspective as well as the schedule with evening programs. It’s pretty hard to put into words what the actual demands are like for athletes who are in the top 15 in multiple disciplines and consistently on the podium.” With this, Shiffrin also brought her boyfriend Aleksander Kilde’s reference.

The skiing GOAT said that Kilde had previously mentioned how FIS’ skiing events and presentations take up a lot of the daylight hours, pushing the races to the evening. Moreover, staying awake and active the whole day also leads to fatigue. Shiffrin categorically wrote, “I absolutely believe that fatigue at this point in the season plays a role in the injuries we have seen lately, including my own.” Alongside this, Mikaela Shiffrin also had news to share about herself.

Mikaela Shiffrin shared both good and bad news on her part. On the better side, the Slalom Queen was recovering and would be better soon. However, the bad news that eclipsed the good one was, that she wouldn’t be able to compete in the Andorra leg of the World Cup.

Mikaela Shiffrin wrote, “Although I’m feeling better each day and progressing well, I will not be skiing in Andorra this weekend. That stings as I have so many special memories in Soldeu, but my knee can not handle the load of racing just yet. I just need a bit more time to heal and re-condition.” However, an accompanying video somewhat lightened up the scene.
