American Wrestling prodigy Amit Elor is a rookie phenomenon with a remarkable journey characterized by consistent success. Now, entering her twenties, as the next chapter of her life unfolds, it is evident that Elor will continue to dominate the mats. Native of Walnut Creek, California, Elor has bolstered her legacy as a US athlete. Her astonishing victory at the 2022 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, has helped her gain worldwide attention.

Turning 20 on New Year, the young wrestler with a champion mindset has set sights on the Paris Olympics. The official X handle of USA Wrestling took to wish Elor cherishing her major victories. Let us take a look at her dazzling journey.

Elor concludes teenage with a dazzling resume

Amit Elor came to the limelight with her performance in 2019 with a bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships. Since then there has been no looking back. Elor went on to establish her dominance on international mats. Besides the Cadet World Championships in 2021,  she also brought gold for the US in the Junior World Championships 2021 and 2022 at 68 kg.

There was no stopping for Elor in the year 2023 as well. She claimed victories in Junior World Championships, World U23 Championships, and Pan American Championships. The icing on the cake was, however, probably lifting her second World Championships title in Belgrade. The Twitter handle of the National Governing Body for wrestling in the United States, took to wish the rising wrestling sensation, Amit Elor as she turned 20 on January 1, 2024.

Posting a collage of Elor’s pictures from her iconic journey, the caption reads, “Happy Birthday, Amit!” Interestingly, Amit Elor did not only win, but she won with dominance and it is supported by the stats.

United World Wrestling observed that Elor delivered a 73% winning probability via superiority/fall. From Final X victories to captivating performances at the USMC Women’s National Championship, she turned the tables in the 72 kg category this year. Her consistency and dominance establish her as a formidable athlete. Now turning 20 as the year starts, her long list of achievements will surely wish to add the one that Elor has harbored since childhood.

Amit Elor to mark her Olympic shift

Born at the start of January 2004, Amit Elor was one day too young to match the eligibility criteria for the Tokyo Olympic Trials. With the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, if she makes it to the berth, she is in the queue to make a historic appearance as the youngest U.S. Olympic female wrestler. However, there is a hurdle.

By January, Elor needs to shift the weight classes as the current 72kg is not a part of Olympic contests. Elor is planning to decide this month if she intends to go down to 68kgs. “That is a challenge for me to figure out which weight is best for my body,” she remarked. “I just want to take care of my body and not starve myself, not dehydrate myself,” Elor added. With the Paris Olympics in line, the young wrestling icon indeed has a bright future ahead.
