Despite Iowa State claiming this year’s Cy-Hawk series, the Hawkeyes wrestling held its ground to their foes. Now, as Iowa has brought back 3 All-American wrestlers for the 2023-24 season, Zach Glazier can’t help but be grateful for the opportunity.

Zach Glazier has the chance to fill the shoes of NCAA finalist Jacob Warner in the 197lb category. While the Hawkeyes’ current form might help with his momentum, Glazier recently talked about being grateful for finally having the opportunity to prove his worth.

Hawkeyes All-American says he’s “grateful” for the opportunity

The All-American Glazier showcased why he’s been targeted by the Hawkeyes during his match in the 2023 Cy-Hawk Series. Glazier pulled off an impressive 7-3 decision win over ISU’s Julien Broderson. Now, Zach was heard talking about the chance offered to him by the Hawkeyes and how he was eager to make the most of it. In a recent video clip, Glazier can be heard reiterating the words of the Hawkeyes’ coach Tom Brands, and how opportunities are essential.

Ahead of the start of the season, Brands mentioned that every Hawkeye has an opportunity. “It’s about opportunities“, Brands emphasized. Now, in the latest video, the Hawkeyes’ newest 197-pounder said “…I’ve been waiting to have that opportunity for a handful of years now“. Glazier also said that being consistent in his matches is something that helps him to get better at a steady pace.

The Hawkeyes senior also said that he could feel his skills improving with every single match. In the end, Glazier said that he couldn’t help but be grateful for being presented with the chance to grow and promised that he would get even better in the coming days.
