The rest of the video showcased the Iowa State Wrestling Freshman toy with his opponent. Chittum gave no room for his Cornell counterpart to counter him or escape his grapples. Eventually, the offensive train Chittum started resulted in his victory.

Cody Chittum went to high school in Ohio but made a move back home for his collegiate career. The Iowa State Cyclones sensation is a two-time state champion and dished heavy offensive output in his matchup. While the freshman worked hard for a big win, his opponent wasn’t one of Cornell’s main wrestlers. In fact, the highly anticipated fight between Cornell University and Iowa State Wrestling turned out to be a big dud for fans.

The lackluster show from Cornell and the reason behind it

Cornell University has one of the best national collegiate wrestling programs. However, they ended up losing seven bouts out of ten against Iowa State Wrestling. A big reason for this was the fact that Cornell’s head coach, Mike Grey, held back his starting wrestlers from participation.

Mike Grey, who regularly emails the fans of Cornell Wrestling, wrote to them after his students failed against Iowa State Cyclones. He said that the primary pillars of Cornell were down with injuries. He said that while they could wrestle, stepping on the mat risked them further injuries, which he couldn’t allow to happen.

This decision by Grey replaced Cornell’s primary wrestlers in the 125, 133, 157, and 165lbs weight classes, respectively. While many fans were enraged by this, Grey also won the hearts of many. While Cornell decided to rest its wrestlers against Iowa State Wrestling, it will surely rise back on its feet.
