However, a lot of its recent success will have to be attributed to head coach Cael Sanderson’s masterful teachings.

Sanderson’s impact on Penn State’s wrestling team has been beyond reproach since he took over the responsibilities of the team in 2009. His accolades have made even Penn State’s rivals a fan of his techniques and the 2009 World Championships gold medalist wrestler Ben Askren thinks Sanderson has a left to offer still.

Penn State wrestling coach commands the respect of everyone

In a recent post on X (previously known as Twitter) by the official FloWrestling account, Askren can be seen sharing his opinion of how Sanderson might plan his exit from an illustrious coaching career. Cael currently boasts ten NCAA team titles as Penn State’s head coach, while 34 individual NCAA Division I titles strengthen his resume further. Naturally, wrestlers like Askren can only speculate about what Sanderson has in store before his departure from his current role.

The recent post is accompanied by the caption, “Cael Sanderson will retire with ___________ NCAA team titles?“, obviously asking for fans’ opinions on the matter. For Askren, the figures are pretty high, but even he can’t escape the attempt to keep things conservative. “Over or under 19.5 NCAA titles before Cael retires“, claims the two-time NCAA gold medalist Askren, choosing to put forward a more diplomatic answer than the others.
