In a recent social media post, the official NCAA wrestling account has shared Lehigh’s latest feat as the team basks in their latest wins over Cornell Big Reds and Binghamton. Captioned “NCAA Team of the Week“, the Instagram post pays the Mountain Hawks the respect that they deserve, given the team’s stellar performance last weekend. Just the day before taking on Cornell, Lehigh locked horns with the Binghamton Bearcats, which they won 29-12 thanks to six bonus points. And now, their masterclass in wrestling has been recognized by the country’s authoritative collegiate wrestling body.

The very next day at the Leeman-Turner Arena, the Mountain Hawks once again displayed their dominance over a higher-ranked squad as they beat the Big Reds in front of almost 2,000 attendees. With their two latest wins, the Lehigh wrestling team has also propelled itself higher up in the weekly NCAA rankings.

A definite past weekend to seal their glory

Only last week, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks were ranked as the No. 23 NCAA team, while Cornell was in the 9th place. After losing points in the opening bout in the 133lb category, Cornell quickly rallied back to its feet, winning four consecutive matches, taking the game to Lehigh. However, the Mountain Hawks held their ground and won all three of the last three bouts to come out on top of their opponents.

One take at a time

Growing up, I didn’t really have an interest in Olympic sports, but it was always something intriguing. As I found the means and the opportunity to explore its world, I found sports like volleyball, and track & field to be something that had tons to offer instead of just scoring through kills and sprinting toward the finish line. Whether it is Nebraska Huskers dominating the court or Noah Lyles maintaining his winning spree on the tracks, these two sports never fail to serve adrenaline rush to their spectators.
