The collegiate wrestling season isn’t giving fans a moment’s peace with thrilling matches every other day. Along with the other sturdy names in the collegiate scene, the Michigan Wolverines are also taking on some serious competition in their Big Ten schedule. While their season started with a series of wins against the likes of Michigan State and Maryland, the Wolverines took a major defeat to the mighty Penn State. And now, they face another challenge as they return to the road to take on the No. 7 ranked Ohio State this Friday in Colombus, Ohio.

While the Wolverines suffered a humiliating loss to Penn State’s NLWC last Friday (Jan 19), Dylan Ragusin, one of their juniors, secured a milestone achievement thanks to his prolific performance. Now, as the Michigan team gears up to take on their arch-nemesis, it looks like their redshirt’s spark has been providing some extra boost to the entire squad.

In a recent social media post by the official Michigan Wrestling account on X, the Wolverines can be seen prepping for their upcoming Big Ten showdown with full force. Their X post reads, “Work for the weekend“. Practicing their takedowns and grapples, the No. 11 collegiate wrestling team of the country looks determined to bounce back from the defeat they were handed by the Penn State squad. While the Wolverines recorded a massive 23-10 victory against Rutgers only two days after they met with the NLWC wrestlers, it’s understandable that last week’s defeat was a major jolt to the head.

The Wolverines are currently going 3-1 in the Big Ten, while the Buckeyes have an undefeated 3-0 record so far this season. With a long history of rivalry between these two collegiate wrestling giants, it’s expected that the coming Friday will have multiple treats for the fans. Considering their recent form, Michigan will have to make sure their enthusiasm for training is reflected when it will matter the most. Amid this, there is a worry-point for Michigan.
