The American collegiate wrestling scene has witnessed several new heights in recent times. Both individual wrestlers and their universities are making big splashes. Taking things further along similar lines, the wrestling team of Stanford University recently annihilated the wrestlers of Duke University.

The wrestlers of Stanford and Duke clashed against each other as part of an outdoor institution dual. A social media post revealed the news of the thrilling clean sweep Cardinal wrestlers registered as they answered every challenge thrown its way by Duke.

Cardinal wrestling breaks the back of Duke University

The Duke University wrestling team took on the wrestlers of Stanford University at Taube Family Tennis Center in an outdoor dual. While both universities boast highly successful programs for wrestlers, Stanford completely wrecked the opposition as it achieved a stomping win in every match. Stanford Wrestling tweeted about their towering standoff against Duke via its official X account. The tweet carried the caption, “Season-opening shutout.”

Cardinal wrestlers posted a crushing score of 41-0 against Duke to open their season and rise to the top. While the established wrestlers made their mark in their bouts, Stanford’s debutant wrestler Tyler Knox also registered a great win. 

Fighting in the 133lbs weight class, he finished his match in just 4:37 with a score of 21-5. This earned Knox a massive technical fall win in his collegiate debut. Just like Knox, several other Stanford wrestlers also asserted their dominance via technical fall wins.

Stanford forces technical fall victories in an epic season opener

Stanford Senior Jason Miranda dueled hard against his Duke opponent in the 141lbs category and secured a flawless 15-0 victory. Winning the match by a technical fall, Miranda finished the match in just 3:55. Cardinal wrestling team members Daniel Cardenas, Lorenzo Norman, and Nick Stemmet also earned technical fall wins in their weight classes.

Perhaps one of the most impressive performances was delivered by Stemmet in the 197lbs weight class. Ranked at number 13 in collegiate wrestling in his category, Stemmet claimed an 18-3 technical fall win. Interestingly, he finished his match in just 2:05. Opening the season with a bang, Cardinal wrestlers now look forward to another great NCAA campaign.
