They did not have a pleasant time at the World Championship. After not being able to reach the full wrestling potential USA is ready to dominate the U23 World Championship. Filling up the roster with 10 fierce Greco-Roman athletes, Team USA is ready to start afresh. While some of the wrestlers will be looking for redemption, some will want their international debut to become historic with gold.

Four Senior National Team and six U23 Nationals champions are chasing gold at the tournament. They make up the 10 fierce Greco-Roman athletes who will be part of the Greco-Roman delegation for the USA at the championship.

The USA Greco-Roman delegation

Among the USA wrestlers, Camden Russell and Phillip Moomey will be coming back this year. They will feature in the 55 kg and 60 kg respectively. For Moomey, it is going to be the third trip. He bagged bronze in 2021 at the Pan American Games. On the other hand, Russell is a national senior team member and has been placed third at the US Open.

Among others, Jordan Hamdan, a redshirt senior from Michigan State, will be making his international debut in Tirana, reported USA Wrestling. He has been at the top of U20 spots and this will be the first gold chase for him. Among the rookies, Kaleb Reeves will also be a debutant at the international arena. Jacobson, Eischens, and Altomer are also some of the formidable wrestlers to feature in the US team.

Jacobson is a silver medal winner at the Junior Pan American Championship. Eischens finished 10th at the Junior World Championship 2019. Altomer won U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals in 2023 which has earned him two international championship trips. Coached by Cheney Haight and Lucas Steldt the Greco-roman delegation will be looking forward to a dominating championship.

The U.S. wrestling team had the bitter taste of defeat during the Greco-Roman events at the World Championship recently. After the success of the freestyle wrestlers, the fans had expected similar results in the Greco-Roman. But things did not go according to their expectations. 3 Out of their four wrestlers were eliminated in the 1st Round.

While the seniors failed to make it big, the onus is on the juniors. The Greco-Roman competition will commence at Sports Hall “Feti Borova” in Tirana. The first five weight class, 60-67-72-82-97 kg will start their qualification campaign on October 27. The second group, 55-63-77-87-130 kg will begin it the next day. Each bracket will commence in the two days, with reaching up to the semi-finals on the first day and then repechage and medal matches on the second day. Will this tournament turn the tables?
