USA’s 19YO Wrestling Prodigy Sets Sights on Next Big Campaign After World Championship Triumph

The World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia ended recently, with the US coming in second spot after Japan in women’s freestyle. The US women’s team had a historic performance at the Third World Wrestling Championship. They showed their stamina and willpower by winning three individual world championships and earning seven medals.

Out of the three women wrestlers, one 19-year-old phenomenal prodigy became the youngest American to win the world title. This was her second consecutive World Wrestling Championship.

US athlete Amit Elor showed her strength and power in the wrestling arena. The young American also won the Senior World Championship last year, when she was just 18 by knocking off four of her opponents. She won the gold medal in the 72 kg weight class at the 2023 World Wrestling Championship in Belgrade. She defeated Zhamila Bakbergenova from Kazakhstan and Enkh-Amaryn Davaanasan from Mongolia. She also defeated Japan’s Miwa Morikawa.

In her recent Instagram post, she declared her decision to participate in the upcoming World U23 Wrestling Championship in Albania. She said, “Next up, I will be wrestling at U23 Worlds in Albania on October 26-27 🇦🇱 Going to try my hardest to win another triple crown this year. Let’s gooo!!”

Hence, she is determined to clinch her third world wrestling championship title. She seems to be full of energy and enthusiasm to perform her best. This would be a great opportunity for her to add more numbers to her winning streak in a year. Elor is a very ambitious athlete and she also aims to take the next high in her career by representing her country in the Paris Olympics. However, there is an issue that she needs to handle well.

Elor wishes to participate in the Paris Olympics

The issue that has come along with her participation in the Paris Olympics is a concern with the weight category. The 72 kg weight class is not included in the Olympics, so Elor needs to change her weight category. She might face a dilemma in selecting the weight category. She will have to go with either 68 kg or 76 kg.

Talking about this challenge, she expressed her thoughts to NBC Sports “That is a challenge for me to figure out which weight is best for my body,” she said. She further also mentioned: “I just want to take care of my body and not starve myself, not dehydrate myself.”

Elor is practicing hard and waiting eagerly to show her prowess in the upcoming championship in Albania. She is looking forward to her victory, and she also aims to win gold at the Paris Olympics. It’s just a matter of time. Everything will unfold itself shortly, so stay tuned.
