Years ago, the two wrestlers became rivals and wanted to dominate each other in a match. It seems like there is a high chance of seeing David Taylor face off against his rival inside the ring. It all started with a tweet made by one of the prior fighters among them. The tweet was made by Jordan Burroughs, saying, “Grappling, boxing, MMA—it doesn’t matter.”

Up for a fight in a different arena?

The squabble went on for years, but last year it came into the limelight again when Taylor brought it up on the show called The MMA Hour. The conversation rose when he was talking about mixed martial arts with Helwani and mentioned the most-awaited fight with Burroughs. Years later, Taylor said he was still up for the fight in a podcast posted by FloWrestling with the caption, “David Taylor called out Jordan Burroughs for an MMA fight.”

In that interview, he also mentioned his interest in going beyond his limits and learning other forms of wrestling. Taylor’s rivalry with Burroughs went on for decades until the US Open finals were scheduled. Here they two faced off in the field for the first time. The competitors met three times in 2014, while Burroughs won all the matches.

Taylor, on the other hand, moved up in weight category after taking a five-year break from the game. The spark of their battle again became a hit topic in 2021, when they both came in at the same weight level. Finally, Taylor could defeat Burroughs at FlowWrestling 4 but the result was a 4-4 draw. Now again, Taylor wants to spark up the anticipated fight in 2024.

The legendary rivalry of two pro wrestlers

Jordan Burroughs and David Taylor have barbed each other for more than a decade. It probably started in 2012. At that time, Burroughs had two NCAA titles in his name at the University of Nebraska, whereas Taylor was a rising star of Penn State. However, that year David had to let go of his Olympic spot, which was taken by Burroughs, eventually securing a gold at London 2012.
