

The 59th Ken Midlands Wrestling Championships have been quite fortunate for team Wisconsin Badgers this year. Led by two champion wrestlers, the team secured second place in overall rankings, marking its highest rankings in the past 13 years at nation’s one of the premier wrestling tournaments at the collegiate level.

Interestingly, Wisconsin Badgers unveiled 17 Badgers across ten weight classes on NOW Arena on Friday. Alongside, it recorded its best performance in its history, earning the silver medal while scoring 104.5 points as a team.

How did Dean bring the medal home?
In a stellar set of finals, Dean Hamiti, representing the Wisconsin Badgers, was honored with the Jack Leese Champion of Champions Award and the Dan Gable Outstanding Wrestlers Award. The moment of triumph came after a steady win in the 165 weight class. To celebrate the recent achievement of the young wrestling prodigy, Big Ten Wrestling posted a video interview with Dean Hamiti with Shane Sparks. Hamiti shined on the Midlands Wrestling mat as he blitzed through the tournament in the 165-pound bracket. While he pinned opponents three times on Friday, he won the following showdowns by a pair of shutout major decisions. Eventually, in the final showdown, he clinched a 12-0 win over the opponent Peyton Hall from West Virginia.

Therefore, the wrestlers were cemented as Midland’s top wrestlers this year by dropping zero points at the tournament. After joining his dream team, Dean Hamiti has managed to remain under the spotlight with remarkable performances. But what are his views on winning the championship?

Wisconsin Badgers’ Sensation’s views on his recent win
Dean Hamiti has shown incredible improvement over the years to achieve the position of the event’s best wrestler. In the same video interview, Hamiti said, “Last year I got smarter too, but I think every year you get smarter and smarter when you’re not saying that you’re going to make improvements. I’m just really trying to choose my shots. I’m trying to finish them the best I can and Stay smarter in every position.”

While talking about his award, he added, “It feels great. It means a lot. Especially the champions; the champions are where the rest of us vote. There is a lot of mutual respect between my other competitors”. As the year 2024 begins, Hamiti is looking forward to competing against one of the top teams, Iowa Wrestling.
