“Dallas is a great sports city,” said Paige Bueckers back in April after being picked No.1 in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings, even admitting she’s going all-in, including cowboy hats and boots, to adapt to the culture. And today, she had the perfect chance to experience what the Dallas Stars mean to the great city. After eliminating the Colorado Avalanche in Round 1 of the NHL playoffs, the Central Division powerhouse is also leading the series against the Jets in Western Conference Round 2. Now, as they looked to pull ahead further, the Stars received major support from the WNBA sensation.
The official NHL X account took to the platform to highlight the WNBA celebrity who was spotted in the stands for Game 4 between the Dallas Stars and the Winnipeg Jets. The recent social media post caption read, “@DallasWings guard @paigebueckers1 and her former @UConnWBB teammate @KamoreaArnold are in the house tonight cheering on the @DallasStars!“
The University of Connecticut alum was seen sporting the Stars’ green as she and her collegiate comrade smiled for the camera. As a collegiate basketball star, there are virtually no awards that Buecker doesn’t have under her belt. Apart from helping UConn be the 2025 National Champions, Bueckers also bagged the 2025 Honda Sport Award, the 2025 BIG EAST Player of the Year (her third time winning the award, and the second in a row). Obviously, having her rally behind the team undoubtedly gave the Dallas Stars all the fuel they needed to pummel the Jets.

However, the basketball sensation isn’t the sole source of support that has been cheering for the Dallas Stars in the playoffs. Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg, NFL celebrity Tony Romo, and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair have also shown their support for the Stars in the past. And who could forget the heavy metal icons, Pantera, whose song Puck Off which is the team’s goal song.
This year, Paige wasn’t the only young basketball Turk who found their new home in Dallas. In May, the Mavericks won the NBA draft lottery and roped in Cooper Flagg, marking only the second time in history that both the NBA and WNBA top picks were drafted by the same city. And it looks like with the Dallas Stars, the city could once again bolster its claims as one of the nation’s top sports hubs.

The Dallas Stars’ rampage continues
The Stars finished the regular season in second place in the Central Division, behind only the Jets, who were the top seed of the entire league, and therefore won the 2025 Presidents Trophy. In the first round of the playoffs, Pete DeBoer’s squad defeated the Colorado Avalanche after a thrilling seven-game series. In the second round of the Western Conference, Dallas is again firmly seated in the driver’s position as they lead the series 3-1 after defeating the Jets today as well (3-1).

A lot of that success is attributed to Mikko Rantanen, a former Avs star himself. Rantanen arrived in the Stars’ locker room in March after being traded by the Carolina Hurricanes. While he didn’t score a goal in today’s game, the Finnish national rides high on 19 points in 11 postseason games for Dallas. Moreover, after missing out on 42 games since late January, defenseman Miro Heiskanen finally returned to the roster at today’s match, giving Pete DeBoer something more to be happy about. In fact, he went on to rack up an assist in just under 15 minutes of ice time, to help Mikael Granlund score a hat-trick to send the Jets to the brink of elimination. What’s more? With a .917 save%, goalie Jake Oettinger has been outstanding himself, to say the least.
